Goodbye 34, Hello 35!
Dress: Sonia by Sonia Rykiel, sold out / Clutch: Clare V. / Shoes: Christian Louboutin, similar less expensive option / Earrings: Kenneth Jay Lane
Well, I turn 35 tomorrow. It it a little crazy to believe that it has been a year since the balloon shoot mishap (they flew away after 3 or 4 shots!) from last year. I decided not to tempt fate again this year! To say it has been an interesting year is a little bit of an understatement. I shared quite a bit in my welcome back post. When life gives you lemons, you have to make lemonade (sometimes with a little vodka…).
While I’m not sure 35 is the new 25 (my body would agree after a late night out!), I’m very excited to see what this year will bring! In my birthday post last year, I wrote about facing my fears and stepping outside of my comfort zone. I’ve made big steps forward over the past year, and honestly a few steps back. The most important thing is that I’ve made progress from where I started. I don’t think my work is ever done, but I’m trying to remember the quote, “Life begins at the edge of your comfort zone.” I’m looking forward to pushing the boundaries (for me!) more this year.
I think that confidence is my word for this year. Confidence in myself, my abilities, and my decisions. I don’t know if I’m going to wear this little black dress to my birthday party this weekend, but I love how confident I feel in it. Every woman, no matter your age, should have a dress that makes you feel amazing when you put it on. Like you can take on the world. I have one for work and now one for going out. Also, I love that it has a string on the zipper to make it easier for us single girls to get into and out of. No more showing up somewhere and asking a friend to make a quick trip to restroom to zip you up (true story!).
I believe in a birthday month and mine is just kicking off. Last year I started mixing friends. I figured it was time after 34 years, lol! I’m continuing my baby steps into friend mixing by having a low key birthday party this weekend. Do you have any fun birthday traditions?
I know this was a little all over the place, but thanks for reading! Have a great day!
