How to Wear Cropped Wide Legged Pants if You are Short
Top (on sale under $40!): J. Crew / Pants: Ann Taylor / Earrings: Bauble Bar, this year’s version / Shoes: Sam Edelman / Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim, love this less expensive option
I hope you had a great weekend! On Saturday, I spent the entire afternoon cleaning out my closet, which felt so good. I can finally see the floor and I’ve rediscovered a few pieces I had forgotten about. It was like free shopping! I also tried to hang everything by color to make it easier to get dressed in the morning. We will see how that goes!
One of the big trends for spring is cropped wide leg pants. As a total pants girl, I’m always game to try a new silhouette to break up my skinny pants/jeans addiction. However, I was a little nervous about how to wear cropped wide leg pants since I’m short. When I saw these Ann Taylor wide leg Marina pants in store, I knew I had to try them on. The petite version fit me perfectly. These pants are a nice heavy weight cotton that you can dress up or down. I’ve worn them with a striped shirt similar to above for work and with flat sandals and a t-shirt on the weekend. I’m also considering getting them in white for summer!
3 tips for how to wear cropped wide legs pants if you are petite:
- Make sure the pants hit you at the right place, which is slightly above the ankle. You don’t want to look like your pants just shrunk in the washer.
- Pair the pants with a slimmer top to balance the volume on bottom. I first tried to pair these pants with a blazer and it looked awful! Once I figured out that they look best with a blouse or sweater, I looked much better in them.
- Pair them with a nude sandal or shoe to lengthen your legs. Avoid dark colored ankle straps which can make you look shorter.
What do you think of the cropped wide leg pant trend? Some of my favorite cropped wide leg pants are below.
