I hope you had a great weekend! Sorry for the silence towards the end of last week. Work deadlines + a cold knocked me out for a bit! I’m feeling a little better, but still could use a few more days of rest. At least the snow is gone though!
I thought about sharing my 2018 goals today and I still might do that next month. However, I always struggle with annual goals. Maybe it is because I haven’t figured out what the right check-in cadence is. Anyway, I’ve decided to start with monthly goals, two of which I will share here.
Earlier this year, I moved from one location at work to another. My old office was pretty casual and things started around 9/9:30. I wore jeans (and usually not my dressiest jeans…) almost every day. My new location is dressier and unfortunately for me starts earlier, closer to 8:30. This month, my goals are to start dressing up more for work and to get up earlier. I will talk more about how I plan to get up earlier on Friday, but would love any tips you may have!
I’m still trying to get used to this new dress code. Thankfully, my trusty blazers help me dress up almost any outfit. I found this velvet Who What Wear piped military jacket at Target and it is such an easy way to dress up a pair of jeans. I’ve paired it with a black sweater and jeans, but it would also look great with a pair of white pants for work or a ripped jeans on a Saturday night.
Thanks for reading and have a great week!

New dress code would definitely be an adjustment for me. My job has been so casual and I’ve been there for 7 years. My tip for getting up early is to slowly get up earlier and earlier each day and try that practice that on the weekend. For example, tell yourself 10 minutes early and then do 5 minutes early after each day. That seems to work for me!

Having a casual dress code can be nice, but maybe you will find some enjoyment in getting more dressed up too? Though an earlier work time is a bummer, mornings are hard enough!
Love this jacket, the piping and buttons give it so much character!

Dress codes throw me off! It’s like when I have no boundaries I go extremes from super casual to super dressy but when I am in a casual dress code, I feel like meh about everything! It’s so weird!
